Summary of the 6th National Space Weather Day

——To build a new splendor of space and write a new chapter in science

From June 8th to June 30th, in order to actively respond to and fully implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and vigorously implement the call of "popularize scientific knowledge, promote scientific spirit, and improve all scientific literacy", Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) Space The Institute of Science and Applied Technology (hereinafter referred to as the Institute of Space Research) and the Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau (Shenzhen Observatory) actively carried out the 2018 National Space Weather Day activities such as further comprehensive promotion of space weather knowledge and applications. All teachers and students of the Institute of Space Research participate in all activities, and the planning and arrangement of the activities are in charge of Dr. Yuan Ding, associate professor of the Institute of Space Research. The Space Research Institute successively organized "Science Lectures on Campus" for college students, "Space Weather Exhibition" for University Town and Shenzhen residents, and "Harbin Institute of Technology Achievements Exhibition" for the Open Day of Shenzhen University City, and "Shenzhen Primary and Secondary Schools" for primary and secondary schools. A series of activities such as "Science Report" and "Shenzhen Observatory Telescope Star Observation and Space Astronomy Science Popularization". A total of more than 1,000 teachers, students and people from all walks of life participated in the event, including Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau, Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua Peking University, Shenzhen Second High School, Shenzhen Experimental Middle School, and Nanshan Experimental Teachers, students and parents of Primary School, Zhuoya Primary School, Dingtai Primary School. This event strived to innovate in form, promote popular science knowledge, and expand the social influence of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) and Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau, which aroused strong responses and high praise from all walks of life.

In the afternoon of June 8, in order to fully carry out the National Space Weather Day series of activities, Dr. Mei Lin and Dr. Dong Wang from Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau, Dr. Ding Yuan and Dr. Mingyu Wu of the Campus Space Research Institute organized a space weather day at 505, Building A of the campus. Popular science lectures. More than 100 people from Shenzhen key middle schools, representatives of teachers and students from various schools, parents and teachers participated in this popular science lecture. After 4 hours, many students expressed their great interest in the topic of this lecture and actively participated in the discussion. The atmosphere was very warm.

On June 10th, in order to carry out more in-depth space weather day series of activities, the Space Research Institute of our school successfully carried out a wonderful and lively space weather day activity in the square of Building A-Science Exhibition and University City Open Day "Harbin Institute of Technology ". During the exhibition, the teachers all went to the battle to propagate popular science knowledge and patiently answer the students, and explained the basic knowledge of space weather for everyone on the spot. Establishing people's correct understanding of the field of space has greatly broadened the students' horizons and is also conducive to giving full play to their creativity. At the same time, it demonstrates our school's good academic research and innovative technology atmosphere, deepens the students' understanding of space weather, and better promotes the construction of our space power dream.

On the evening of June 30, a total of 50 teachers, students, parents and representatives of the public participated in a visit to the Shenzhen Astronomical Observatory's telescope stargazing and space astronomy science activities. At 8 o'clock in the afternoon, the bus slowly entered the area of the Shenzhen Observatory. It is a night astronomical observatory. There are professional astronomers on the site to give explanations for everyone. After patient and meticulous explanations, every teacher and student have personally observed it through instruments and equipment, and asked the explainers about the universe and space from time to time. The mystery of astrophysics, when the students visited the telescopes one after another, they were amazed, felt the unique charm of astronomy, and had great interest in the cosmic bodies. Soon after, we came to the solar and lunar observatory. The observation equipment attracted many students to stop. All of them were interested in the research in front of the equipment, and the students in front of the observation equipment have been in constant flow.

The students said that through this popular science activity, they have gained a lot and have a deep appreciation of the charm of cosmic bodies and space weather. Let everyone know more about space weather, so as to build up the students' awareness of space power, and call on everyone to join hands to move towards a new era of space.

This event also strengthened the connection between scientific research and elementary and middle school education to a certain extent, shortened the distance between science and technology and society, and was in line with the country's strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education. Scientific and technological progress is the key to building an innovative country. Scientific and technological activities can stimulate the spirit of innovation in society, and are conducive to the integration of independent innovation in daily life and modernization, and lay a solid scientific and technological foundation for the realization of the great "Chinese Dream".

In addition, all walks of life also expressed strong praise for the convening of this event, which not only stimulated the students' enthusiasm for space science and generated a strong interest, but also conducive to the development and innovation of space science in my country, and promotes the early realization of space in my country. The process of the dream of being powerful.
